Junior Staff Program is funded through Cultural Connections for Aboriginal Youth. The purpose of the project is to provide paid employment opportunities to youth involved in the Outreach Project to develop employment skills and build community connections that include engagement in cultural activities in the community at large.
Youth are permitted to work a maximum of 2 Junior Staff shifts per month through the Junior Staff Program. Employment skills are developed by working a variety of shifts in the community, including:
Cleaning and administrative work
Cooking and serving food for community events
Preparing and leading activities for children within the Building Belonging Program
Youth are also given an opportunity to acquire standard employment training such as CPR/First Aid, Basics for Babysitting, and WHMIS.
