Food Resilience, a low income goulash

Last fall the Community Research Hub was approached by the Manitoba Food Charter to conduct a food assessment in Spence neighbourhood. What has emerged is a rich account of the realities of food for people with low income. Our conversations with people on low income demonstrated food resilience based on seven themes: health issues, personal patterns, food strategies, community supports, institutional supports, juggling finances, and dreams and visions.

We’ve finished the report, but we hope this is the beginning of more discussion. Take a moment to ‘chew it over’ on your own or even better, with others.
